Wedding Photographers
one2one Photography was originally founded in 1994 as a wedding photography company. Today, we shoot wedding assignments all over the North Island of New Zealand. The majority of our weddings are completed in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Wellington but we regularly travel to Rotorua, Taupo, Raglan and the Coromandel. We'll also shoot island weddings in Fiji, Rarotonga, Cook Islands and Australia.
Owner of one2one, Steve May was renowned in the UK as one of the busiest wedding photographers, shooting as many as 60 weddings a year. Now living in NZ since 2005, Steve is very much sought after for the way he is able to 'capture the moment'. His preference is to artistically document the essence of the wedding without wishing to pose, prompt or fictionalize the events that unfold. His wedding photographs have won multiple awards, recognised as sensitive and spontaneous – often with a light-hearted edge – and go beyond the common 'look here and smile' wedding portraits. Steve has a keen ability to photograph a wedding while remaining inconspicuous, anticipating and following the action rather than leading.
Jennifer Dodson joined the one2one team in 2007 and completes most of her weddings in the Wellington area. With a very similar style to Steve, Jennifer has become well established for her wedding photography, capturing modern, unique, classic and spontaneous moments. She has a gentle, highly professional style with the aim to capture the essence, emotion and spirit of a wedding in a relaxed and enjoyable way.
Portrait Photographer
We love photographing people and we do it well, from pregnancy shots, new born baby portraits, to child portraits, right on through to 'the olds'. We'll make you smile with our beautiful family portraits and we're more than happy to photograph your family pets.
Portrait photography is about capturing moments and the essence of people in those moments. We avoid formal 'look here and smile' images, prefering to focus on spontaneity, getting those rare shots that breathe life. Portrait journalism allows us to capture you without too much interference or guidance from the photographer. Sometimes we even get your picture when you're not looking.
Steve and Julie, both award winning portrait photographers, complete portraits in Hamilton and Auckland while Jennifer shoots her portraits in Wellington. We're one of a few portrait photographers that give you all full resolution images without any additional cost and without the need to buy portrait images one by one.
Commercial Photographer
Hamilton based commercial photographer, Steve May, has more than 15 years experience as an advertising and commercial photographer. Shooting bands & events, models, architecture, as well as editorial and even aerial photography keeps him busy throughout the year. Steve works in the Northland of New Zealand, ideally located for commercial photographic assignments in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and the greater Waikato.
We work with a large number of commercial clients, from household names including New Zealand Transport Agency, Navman, Mainfreight, SPCA & government departments to small companies and sole traders. All these clients have one thing in common, they care about the image they project to their clients. They know that quality photography is an investment, which pays dividends for years after the shoot.
School Ball Photographers
one2one Photography started shooting school balls in the winter of 2005 and since then the demand has been high for our artistically style, the way we capture 'real people' at 'real balls'. Your school ball is one place where you don't want an inexperienced photographer messing things up but rest assured, photographing people is what we excel at.

Image of the Week
This weeks image was captured by Steve on location with Tauranga based band Enercia for their first Promo photo shoot.
The original image was not that much to look at in the first, but we really pushed the post production editing to achieve the correct tone for the band.
