What can I say about Radhika and Param’s wedding ceremony last Saturday….simply stunning in every way. Full of wonderful tradition, colour, love and laughter. I love the bartering that constantly goes on to progress the ceremony, even to get shoes back to the Bride and Groom.
Radhika and Param, thank you for entrusting these special moments to Gary and I and allowing one2one to capture your wedding day.

Today we attended the Temple for the Grah Shantak for Radhika’s family. This is a very important religious ceremony. Both sets of parents are the primary figures in the invocation. On behalf of the parents, the officiating priests ask the deities to ensure stellar harmony and peace during the period of their son and daughter’s wedding.
The bride takes a coconut to her parents who are seated on ‘patlas’ (low stools) in front of the sacred fire and seats herself beside them. While the priest is performing the ‘puja’, she hands this ‘shriphal’ (coconut) to her parents, who in turn hand it over to the priest for ‘ahuti’ (sacrifice). The coconut is consigned to flames, thus propagating peace and harmony between all the nine planets.

NZ – This morning Gary (one2one UK) and I were up early to attend the Mandap Muhurat at Radhika’s parents house. This is the 3rd Indian wedding I have shot and you never forget the colours and the cultural intricacies of an Indian Wedding build up.

On Saturday Arie and I headed to Sarnia Park to the longly awaited wedding of Emma and Fraser. There were rain clouds all day and eventually it was decided to have the wedding inside the beautiful house at Sarnia. Fading light at this time of year is always a challenge but I love shooting natural light and we grabbed some great bridal party images. I stayed until the very end and did a ‘photo booth’ type thing for Emma and Frasers guests to leave message, great idea.

On Saturday I did a quick pregnancy shoot in Tauranga for Jodi & Greg. I photographed their wedding late last year and it was a pleasure to capture this special time for them. Steve
On Saturday I headed over to Tauranga to photograph Susan & James’ wedding at a beautiful Private Residence right on Papamoa Beach. It was a great union of people from all over the World. I was told that nearly 30 people traveled from overseas, the vast majority from Susan’s home Country, Scotland. Their wedding celebrant flew in from Scotland especially to wed them, having married Susan’s sister’s (her bridesmaids) in Scotland.
Many of my couples are now choosing to have some time to themselves and enjoy their own moments.
